Jesus makes it very clear that the new way of living He wants us to abide by is one of love and not revenge. However, all around us are the vestiges of revenge that we may mistake for justice. What we may consider a just consequence of terrible misdeeds often borders on revenge. We do need to accept the consequences of our bad choices, our bad behavior or the crimes we commit against God and neighbor. But where does justice end and revenge begin. That is something we cannot pinpoint without the guidance of a loving God to challenge our human tendencies.
Dear God wash away my sin of wanting to exact a price for wrongs against me that do not include Jesus’ command to love as you love me.
